Yesterday was my first day as a stay at home dad. All in all a good day. The laundry got done. Menu planned and groceries bought. (By the way, I managed to spend only $73 for the week. Not bad for a family of 6.) I did give the kids a day off of home school. Need to get back on that. We went to a park for awhile and the kids played nicely all day.
I have to admit that I am still struggling with this new role. It feels weird. I want to go to work! But I do see a number of great advantages and opportunities with this endeavor. One, I get to spend time, lots of time, with my kids. I know that dads often do not have the opportunity to spend large amounts of time with their children. I think it is a great chance to invest in my kids' lives as dad. I hope that these next few months will be ones that they remember fondly. I also have the chance to experience what it is like to be the stay at home person. I will soon have a first-hand understanding of this area of life. Hopefully it will make me a better husband and dad. Well, I have a pork shoulder to prepare.
